Rivelin and Redmires Circular
This 7.89-kilometer circular track is located next to Sheffield. The moderately challenging route takes a little over 2 hours to walk. Birding, hiking, and mountain biking are just a few of the most popular activities on this trail, so there’s something for everyone. The route is open all year and is a fantastic spot to visit at any time. Dogs are welcome, and they may be off-leash in some areas. This trail brings visitors through a stunningly diverse range of landscapes, including farmland, moorland, forest, and riverfront walks, among many others.
Wyming Brook and Rivelin Reservoir Circular
Head out on this 6.28 km loop trail near Sheffield. The track is generally considered a moderately challenging route, and usally takes just under 2 hours to complete. Wyming Brook’s streams, crags, and sweet-smelling pines were once solely used by the nobility when it was part of Rivelin Chase’s hunting and hawking grounds, but they are now protected as a valuable home to wildlife. Everyone can now enjoy this small patch of wilderness just West of Sheffield. It is part of the Eastern Moors Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the nature reserve is home to a diverse range of species, including both local and migratory birds. Wyming Brook has been awarded a coveted Green Flag Award, an international recognition programme that recognises this nature reserve as one of the best green areas in the United Kingdom and one of the nicest walks in Sheffield.
Sheffield Lodge Moor and Oaking Clough Reservoir Circular
Get to know this challenging 12.55 km loop trail near Sheffield. It takes an average of just over 3 hours to complete. The trail is great for birding, camping, and fishing throughout the warm summer months of the year. The trail starts with a stroll through the woods, descends to Wyming Brook, and then ascends to the edge of Ash Cabin Flat. After a brief descent down Wyming Brook Drive, a short walk leads you to a secluded, innominate reservoir, a great spot for lunch on a sunny day. Shortly after that, a stroll through Redmires Plantation’s waterworks guides you back to Lodge Moor. The walk is mostly on well-defined trails, with some stretches on well-defined moorland tracks. Certain areas can get muddy, and the route passes through a series of stepping stones, so proper footwear is essential. There are also a few stiles and small gaps to traverse.
More Hall and Broomhead Reservoir Circular
This 7.89 km loop trail near Sheffield is generally considered an easy route, and takes an average of 2 hours to complete. The track is open all year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. This route includes both wooded trails and paved areas. The views are breath-taking, and is a great place to spend some quality time with family or friends. Visitors will also be able to find free parking, however, the parking spaces are often limited.
Rivelin valley trail
This brief 3.22km route near Sheffield is an easy-going route suitable to most abilities, so a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors. Or if you want to challenge yourself, it is also a great trail for running and biking! Stop off for a bite to eat at the cafe en route, or use the toilets halfway round. This route is a beautiful walk along the riverside and is great for families and friends as it’s simple and accessible for kids.
